Letters, 1819 May 15 - 1820 Dec. 20, from Parkin, the first from St. Stephens, Washington Co., Ala., and the second from Claiborne, Ala., to John R. Parker, at Boston, Mass. The letters discuss the entry of Ala. as a state into the Union, the state constitutional convention, the sale of musical instruments supplied by Parker, relatives and friends in Ala., and the scarcity of cash in the area, even among planters. In the letters, "Tom" refers to Thomas Parker, and "W.S." refers to Winthrop Saltonstall.
